Puerto Muerto was supposed to be a bar. You know, the kind of place the lowest forms of humanity could meet, drink and occasionally engage in revelry. Tim and Christa decided it was much easier to start a band than open up a tavern. So instead of serving clients liquor and beer, they decided to intoxicate those same folks with the songs that they had envisioned them singing there.

The Decemberists -The King Is Dead

The Decemberists are a five-piece indie/folk rock band that formed in 2000 in Portland, Oregon, United States. Named both in reference to the Russian Decembrist Revolt (they use the national anthem of the Soviet Union as an introduction at many concerts) and to the atmosphere associated with the month of December, the Decemberists write songs that range from upbeat pop to instrumentally lush ballads. They often employ instruments like the accordion, Hammond organ, Wurlitzer organ, and upright bass. In their lyrics, they eschew the angst and introspection common to modern rock, instead favoring a storytelling approach.

Hauschka – Foreign Landscapes

Volker Bertelmann is a classically trained composer/pianist from Germany who currently resides in Düsseldorf. Having studied classical piano for ten years, his work as Hauschka is based upon a playful exploration of the possibilities of the ‘prepared’ piano - a disruptive intervention into the preconceived idea of the piano as a pure-toned instrument: by clamping wedges of leather , felt or rubber between the strings; preparing the hammers with aluminium paper or rough films; placing crown corks on the strings, weaving guitar strings around the piano’s guts, or pasting them down with gaffa tape - his resulting tracks are composed both originally and charmingly. The results are vivid, unconventional pieces made in a spirit of playful research-enthusiasm.

Öt év intenzív koncertezés és két sikeres album után búcsúzik a Barabás Lőrinc Eklektric. A nu-jazz csapat a névadó trombitás más irányú zenei elképzelései miatt határozatlan ideig felfüggeszti működését.

Az Eklektric egy miniturné keretében zárja le pályafutását. A csapat a triphopos, kísérletező elektronikus tánczenét játszó Bin-Jip (róluk nemrég itt írtunk) és a dj-szettel készülő Nicola Conte olasz gitáros, producer, a nu-jazz mozgalom egyik meghatározó alakja társaságában december 3-án a Pécsi Est Caféban, 4-én Budapesten az A38 hajón, 6-án pedig Szegeden a JATE klubban ad koncertet. A dzsessz, az elektronika, a dub, a hiphop, a reggae és a french house elemeinek felhasználásával egyedi stílust kialakított Barabás Lőrinc Eklektric két héttel ezelőtt, november 4-én még a Művészetek Palotájában adott rendhagyó koncertet, amikor egy vonósnégyessel lépett színpadra.

This time around, multi-instrumentalist and sound sculptor Tomlinson has assembled a full-fledged rock group. On their self-titled new release, infernal and primitive energies mingle with the bucolic reveries that won him previous acclaim.
